Paolo Buffa (1903-1970)

Extraordinary Canaletto walnut console table with an elegantly contoured top and six slender tapered legs with engraved brass tips and chiseled brass details.

Serafino Arrighi Manufactory, Italy, ca. 1950.

A Milanese architect and designer, he trained at the Milan Polytechnic and, after graduating, worked for several years in Gio Ponti's studio. In 1928, he launched his own business and founded a studio with Antonio Cassi Ramelli, focusing on interior architecture and furniture design.

Over the course of his career, he created furnishings and spaces for high-end private clients, collaborating with leading cabinetmakers of the time, including Serafino Arrighi and Luigi Radice. His work reinterpreted Italian tradition with a modern sensibility and meticulous attention to quality, making him one of the leading figures in Italian design between the 1930s and the postwar period.
