The Filippi family business workshops were founded in Florence in 1887, making wooden milliners' models and hat molds. Taken over by Alfonso Bini in 1945, he, along with designer Mario Mariotti, realized there was an opportunity to transform hat molds into avant-garde sculptures in their own right.
